Jewelry making store in Dupont Circle? I remember a store in Dupont Circle that sold beads and jewelry making supplies. The store was on the main road where all the shops and tourist stuff is. The rest of the store had shelves and containers in which beads were stored and there was ribbon and other stuff similar to that for the chains of the necklaces. Does anyone know the name of this store? I would love to know so I can go back in the future (I live slightly far away so I wanted to know ahead of time)

What is the best Jewelry-making "Bible" how-to book that covers different techniques from beginner to expert? I am looking for the quintessential guidebook for jewelry-making. I know there are many out there, but is there one (or two or three!) essential book(s) that people at all skill levels (who do this for a living) use? I would like a couple of references that clearly define the tools and methods for jewelry-making that goes beyond stringing beads. I know I need to practice those basics as well (I mostly have that covered), but I am more interested in making wearable art from found objects, ie: watch movements, things I find in antique shops, pre-existing old jewelry (re-made), etc... Mostly what I have been finding on the web is the standard, craft-store beading and charm supplies. on that note, I am also looking for a high quality chain and clasp supplier (findings) that is a little less mainstream. Any tips? I would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks in advance :) I am looking for the quintessential guidebook for jewelry-making. piercing help anyone? okay soo.. I have a cartilage piercing on my right-upper ear lobe. I got it months ago, in October 2007, to be more exact. Its healed up very nicely at this point, although I have encountered a few non-lethal infections which caused my ear to turn red, sometimes purple. And, I've been switching the jewelry in my ear pretty often, and it's caused no infections. (I put gold jewelry in the piercing.) But to my main point: I've recently switched to a captive bead ring, and since then, my cartilage has become infected again (for the first time in about 4 months.) I bought the ring from a Sally Beauty supply store in California, and when I bought it, the jewelry was locked up in a case, and packaged in such a way that people wouldn't be able to get their hands all over it.. so I assume that my jewelry was clean when i purchased it. Not to mention, the jewelry is surgical steel, and the ring is 16G (it squeezed into my carilage very easily.) soo.. yeah. any.. help?? o_o

How is this cause and effect essay? Effects of Walking Into a Bead Store There are many addicting activities on the blue planet of ours. Some are consistently destructive to the health of the participant. Others can be either beneficial or detrimental. An example of the latter is beading, or making jewelry with beads. Entering a bead store can cause either a growth in income or a serious decrease in one. Many people, when they are drawn into the art of jewelry making, create a business. Doing so correctly, renders many people to buy the jewelry. When priced properly, every single piece will add to the business’s profit. Over an amount of time, the profit will add up so that the owner has successfully climbed the social class ladder and is wealthier than ever. However, not every beader makes a successful business out of the hobby. Other beaders decide only to make jewelry for themselves, friends, and family. Some don’t think they have what it takes to run a jewelry making business. Others aren’t interested in the moneymaking aspect of the hobby. Still, a few people simply have not thought about turning their beloved hobby into a profit-maker. Whatever the reason, this type of addiction to beading causes the person to keep spending money on supplies, while there is no additional financial support for the hobby. Therefore, walking into a bead store can be dangerous to one’s financial well being. Meaning to spend only a few minutes in a store can turn into hours when entranced by the many fascinating aspects of beads. Hours spent in a bead store can start an addiction. What the addicted decide to do with it is their choice. One should choose their path wisely to come to the best decision for them.
What is this group of white men who wear peach shroudlike clothing and have some kind of marking on their face They came into my store tonight to buy printing supplies. they were all white men with biblical like clothing and wore bead and some had white baglike things around their necks with the beads in them. Is this some type of religious sect? I was curious but didn't want to ask them.
What are some good websites for? buying beads, findings, charms and other jewelry making supplies? I live near Hattiesburg, MS and have been getting my supplies from Hobby Lobby and Michael's. I want to find other unique beads and such that I wouldn't find in these stores. Also, if you leave near my area and know of any other stores I could go to, please, please let me know. Thanks! :)
Cheap 7mm beads in bulk? I'm looking to buy 7mm "pony beads" in about 12-15 different colors in quantities of 500-1,000 per color. Any suggestions where to look? I've tried a couple of school supply catalogs, chain craft stores are too expensive cuz they're in small quantities...
Useful crafts for 7 year old? My daughter is 7 and loves crafts. She has done lots of the store bought kits; beads, bracelets, painting, etc. While she does like these, we end up a bunch of useless things, or too many (like beaded jewelry) to possibly give away (all friends and family already have thier fair share). she is still too young for some of the more advanced crafts, like sewing, but what else is there that isn't too messy, complicated, that she can do on her own w/out endin up w/an unlimited "supply" of useless crap? Something that can be worked on, a little at a time, over a long period of time? Like a continuous project?
What can I get my friend for a made birthday present? She's turning fourteen, and I don't have time to go to the store and buy something. I made her a beaded bracelet that she asked for, but I don't think that's enough, so I want to make something else too. She likes anything as long as it's interesting (not like, plain and boring, but something new that's cool) or it looks very pretty, what can I make her? I have lots of beading and knitting/crocheting supplies, as well as some clay. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Oh, and she doesn't have her ears pierced and doesn't wear jewelery that much >_<
Looking to open an occult shop in Tucson around January. What would be good to see there? I want to know what items you use in your practice. Also, please list any category or title you feel fits you (example: neo-pagan which includes wicca, pagan, satanist, etc). I ask this question because we all have a different perspective on the world and the way such things should be conducted. I know my way and my favored items, but there maybe something that I don't use that you would like to see. Also, we are all from different cultures and I tend to have somewhat of a western perspective, I don't wish to exclude any because of my own faults. I'm not a fan of doing things half-assed. The idea of having pewter castings and plastic beads anywhere in my store just annoys me. I am not opening a shop for pretty souvenirs. I also believe that magic is a very personal thing and should be tailored to fit an individual by an individual rather than deciding that one symbol is the only good one. I'd like to see people from all walks of life enjoy the merchandise, not just a particular crowd. Some items that I already plan on stocking: A large variety of herbs, I believe my order is somewhere over 100 to start with. Pill casings, ointment bases, and witch hazel Variety of bottles and jars for ointments, medicines, and other uses Incenses Essential Oils Crystal bowels, plates, and goblets (like malachite, quartz, jasper, and etc.) A few wooden bowels Petrified wood A medium to large assortment of gems and minerals (including some of the less mainstream ones like kyanite, celestite, and circle stone) Beeswax sheets (in many colors) Beeswax candles (in many colors) Candles from animal fats (in many colors) Parchment paper and homemade paper India ink and maybe supplies for making your own inks Leather Leather bound books (both plain and crystal encrusted) Just a few various sized daggers (wood, horn, or silver handled, some crystal encrusted) Wood boxes of various woods with an assortment of different metal closures Carving Tools Leather working tools One or two seals (wax stamps) An assortment of jewelry (all silver, gold, and possibly a few other semi-precious metals) There will also be some small artifacts like beads and figurines from different parts of the world. I'd also like to include a small book section. These would be pretty much all trade related books and reference books. I do not wish to include anything like "the basics of wicca" or "book of shadows for beginners". I wish rather to focus on the crafting side of working with your own goods as well as the reference section on anatomy, gems and minerals, and herbs. I might add some books on older cultures if I find some good ones. As a final note: It may not happen in the first few months, but there will be a back room for invitation only that will store older and stronger items. Expect these things to be of a higher quality and of a higher price.

Okay so back-to-school isn't for a while for me cuz its only the middle of June now and we start back to school September 9th but what should I buy for back-to-school clothes? I'll be a sophomore in high school and i'm 15 now but i'll be 16 on September 4th. So far my back-to-school shopping list is... -Victoria's Secret jacket in cute color -Miniature toe socks from American Apparell for vans & other shoes -Oregon Ducks sweatshirt (yellow w/ green writing) -Simple, plain, V-neck Oxford t-shirts in bright or dull colors like white, lavender, black, light blue -Dark wash tight skinny jeans that you can fold up at the ankles -Red plaid button-up flannel shirt -Tan suede fringe indian boots -metallic silver gladiator sandals -plain black vans (no laces) -white flats -vintage necklaces -rings -colorful yarn/bead bracelets, black rubber bracelets -Really cute bookbag for backpack -Cute pencil pouch & supplies -Bras & undies Anything else?? my style is cute, simple, preppy, trendy, w/ a little bit of edge. i like stores like nordstroms, brass plum, forever 21, pacsun, american apparell, urban outfitters, metro park, nike, maybe a little abercrombie , etc. i also like cheap places like target, nordstroms rack, papaya, etc. any ideas? thanks

Hey you guys, well I'm opening up my own online store *excited* and I need help with 3 very important things. 1) Where can I buy really cheap beads and things like that to make bracelets and necklaces? Adopt a project—gain media, marketing exposure! Feel good! Take a chance. Something new for you!? Here’s an opportunity to show your talent. Adopt a century home in Hartville, Ohio. Make the first floor a retro store and the upstairs an apartment. It’s already divided and structurally sound. The people who lived in it before made a real mess. We’ve been cleaning and gutting it for days. This is a great media opportunity to shine! All local and national TV and print media will be contacted and invited to cover the event. Local radio and other media will also be invited. As a journalist, I will write an article about the experience. And you can put a permanent sign advertising your name services. Previously I had a tiny boutique in Hartville. We did well, but the space was too small to carry enough product to really make any money. We closed and moved our merchandise to other area boutiques. Merchandise is an eclectic array of mostly USA-made jewelry, clothing, accessories, books. Funky stuff. Men’s’ women’s’ kids’ stuff. Some even new. Products we are considering (we had most before)previously owned, like-new clothing and accessories, home décor, antiques, books (used and new), hand-blown glass beads (made in the USA), hand-made wooden cigar box purses (made in the USA), purse-making supplies, rare antique wooden cigar boxes and cigar box purse-making materials, Burt’s Bees Products and Watkins Products. It’s an eclectic mix of vintage and new. All upscale. No musty smells, and I act as a personal shopper to customers—tracking their likes and calling them if I have something I know they would enjoy. Previously I took articles on consignment, though it was a hassle. The feel of a New York posh shop is what I had at my tiny boutique. Now I have the first floor of a century home in the downtown business district of Hartville, Ohio. We’re also remodeling upstairs for a tenant, and landscaping. I’m looking for a creative team to adopt my project. Thank you for your consideration. Silent investors welcome. References available (from customers, friends, employers). Thank you.
Girls: What types of clothing do ya'll like? I make clothes all the time, and lately, we've been needing extra money. Everybody always compliments me on everything I make, so I wanted to know how to run a business. It will be out of my home, and I will get a website instead of a store, but I need every possible tip I can get from anybody on how to run a business. Like, how do I get it known without spend like $7million for advertising; What kind of software can I get for it, that inexpensive; where to buy cheap fabrics, sewing machines, beads, ribbon, lace, etc.; What type of things I need to run the business; & anything else that would help. Remember, I'm fourteen, so I can't get a store, unless someone paid for it (not gonna happen) and I'm pretty sure the government wont lend me money at my age. Things in the store: Dresses, shirts, shots/pants, purses, shoes, jewelry, hair accessories, misc, & notebooks and other things similar to it. Also say what shapes you like, dresses, colors, textures, anything that will help me improve my designs! I would also like to know a place to buy cheap forms and possibly mannequins. Also, places where I can get a cheap website that looks professional and easy to maintain that has only my website name then .com (not places like my website.bluevoda.com oe whatever). Once again, ANY help is needed. Thank you to everyone who helps! Oh, and I want to stay eco friendly! So, could ya'll maybe list things for advertising that include online too? & if anybody can find cheap places online to buy eco friendly supplies also?
Does anyone have tips for making homemade Christmas ornaments? I'm no Martha Stewart, but I wanna nice Christmas tree, and I can't afford to put any money into it. I like the ones in the store, but they are like $20 for a box, or $1 or $2 apiece, and that is just not happening for me this year. The tree is 7ft tall, and it currently has 2 dozen glitter stars, 18 gold balls, 3 streams of gold garland, and gold and red beads and lights of course. Ive made some homemade ornaments with gold glitter out of old christmas cards, a John Lennon pic, and some family pics. But I'm tired of glitter picture frame ornament, what else can I do. I have gold glitter, glue, & red ribbon, and am willing to buy more supplies if necessary.
Small non-edible party favours? I've found some little wooden boxes I would like to paint and give out as favours, but I don't know what to put in them! It can't be food, since we're just going to a restaurant for a meal after the wedding, and they don't allow outside food, and it has to be very small, because the boxes are very small - they're cylinders about 3.5cm high with a diameter of about 4cm. I have thought of some things to put in them, but I don't like anything I've thought of. I've thought of bath beads or salts, but that probably wouldn't be appropriate for men. I've thought of little magnets, but I don't know if I can find ones that are small enough. I've thought of little cutesy erasers, but I just think that's dumb. I've thought of using a few little different pieces of office supplies, but the short pens and stuff I saw were still too big. I'm really at a loss. I want it to be something that will be useful to at least a few people, or at least fun. Please give me some ideas! Oh, and the wedding's next week, so I can't order anything.
